Commercials

I don't remember where I was going with this post... maybe someone can make some sense of it.
-----

I don't think I've been watching more TV lately, so I'm not really sure why these two commercials stood out at me. It definitely wasn't for positive reasons.

The first takes the classic "A Christmas Story" movie and turns it into a commercial for Cingular. Is it clever, or is it advertising agencies not able to come up with new ideas? I'm not a huge "Christmas Story" fan, but this just feels wrong to me.

The second and third commercials (actually what they're calling "trailers" on YouTube, as I couldn't find the original commercials) are for Burger King video games. When I first saw the TV commercial, I didn't know if it was for BK or if it was for XBox 360. At $4 per game, Crispin Porter + Bogusky (who I assume came up with the concept) is having people pay to play with their advertising campaign. It takes the whole advertising-in-video-games to a new level. In fact, it takes the concept and reverses it... it's a video-game-in-an-advertisement.

Welcome to the Land of Misfit Blogs

I came up with idea from a post from my blog, and figured I'd better register it before I forgot.

This will be a place where people can send their old, discarded and unfinished blog postings. Hopefully someone else will take it and make something better from it.

Will have to figure out how to get these posts up here from people, and all that organizational stuff. More to come, I hope...
